Paradoxium Returns #9: Arrival at the Knife

Away from Berixar and off to the Knife! Some questions will be answered this day.

I spent extra effort on the panel where they arrive at the Knife.

Notes:
  • Trans-drive, if you haven't deciphered that yet, is the primary faster-than-light travel system in the Paradoxium Returns universe.
  • How did Rackat get above the Warp Dial? He "shifted" over to it. You'll learn more about it later.
Also, just a special shout-out to one of my friends, who is in rough condition at the moment. Best wishes!

Paradoxium Returns #8: The Second Wizarling

Hey, folks! This week, we find out what happens to Ri'Kyan and Tegra. If you hadn't figured out what it is by the title, it's another wizarling. And a decent bit of plot development, to boot.

Remind me to never take a week-long break from PR - EVER. Unless, of course, it can't be avoided.

Notes:
  • In case you haven't noticed, there are different colors of Paradox Orbs. The colors represent what they do. You've seen blue, which are offensive, purple, which are defensive, black, which are over-powered, and now red, which place an effect on the target.
  • Wizarlings teleport when in danger. Ellesmara didn't cause her teleportation, however.
  • Those eyes in the last panel? ...Hehehehe...

Paradoxium Returns #7: Dial 9 for Warp

The fight between Thoz, Rackat, and Jijjy takes an interesting turn tonight... I like the art in this one.
Everything's turning gray... but not grayscale, this comic always has been and always will be in color. Unless I want to use it for an artistic purpose.

Notes:
  • What's up with Rackat in the next panel? It's an ability called shifting. For now, that's all you need to know.
  • Warp Dials use Paradox Energy to work, and can teleport a user across their dimension. There are some areas that can only be accessed via Warp Dial, and if they break, weird (and bad) stuff happens.
  • Did I mention that I really like the art in this one?

Paradoxium Returns #6: Thoz

Sorry this is so late. What happened to Jijjy in #4? You're about to find out.
I DON'T EXIST! Talk about an identity crisis.

Notes:
  • That blue wall of energy Jijjy shoots at Rackat is called Fury. It can be some pretty potent stuff in the right circumstances.
  • The circle on Thoz's head is known as the "Eye of Krem," even though it's not Krem's eye. Thoz focuses his magic through there.
  • I believe that this is the second Paradox Orb used in the comic, the first being the Apocalypse Orb. Eventually, I'll make a public Google Doc outlining all the Paradox Orbs and their effects. EDIT: It's not a Doc, but it is a page. Look at the top bar of the website.

Paradoxium Returns #5: Berixar

Comic number 5! w00t! But now to the reason why you're here: Paradoxium Returns #5. In this one, we introduce yet another character, her name being Ri'Kyan the Berix. At one time, she traveled with Zips the Jij, and the adventure with him ended when she... well, you'll find out later. It has to do with the way her personality is now.

Aw, not another one. These explosions are really getting on the landowner's nervous system. Also, the insides of small houses make for really boring backgrounds.

Notes

  • Check out Ri'Kyan's character info on the Characters page to learn more about her.
  • I wish I could do shading. I really do.
On a side note, my friend, Swartfeather, is going to be doing a Blender project that's related to this series. You (and I) should look forward to it!

Paradoxium Returns #4: Nieri

Hey, look at that! We're on time this week! Hooray! Did you notice the "Previous" and "Next" comic buttons on the posts with the comics? I thought those would be handy, seeing the obscene amount of posts between #1 and #2 and thought, "Nobody's going to read these if they have to do something like that each time." Anyways, this comic, like always, deals with plot development. But in this one, a major plot element shows up, and we introduce a brand-new character.

Knock-knock! Who's there? KABOOM!

Notes
  • I can't believe I forgot to put it in - the blue guy is Jijjy de Nieri.
  • This IS important - Jijjy is Zips's brother. It's no secret.
  • Every character in this comic - referenced to in speech or image - is a character that will make an appearance. Not important, but fun.
  • Jijjy is short for Jijerim.
  • I had to freehand Jijjy in this one. That was kinda tough.
